With a nod to the best of the parenting magazines reviewed today, we can be excused for taking a bow for our own recent playful cover mockup of Britney and baby, with such gems as, "Oops, Mommy I Did It Again," "Help Inside."
Parents magazine was writing about a Britney Spears pregnancy before the world knew — its readers' poll this month says 53 percent think she and hubby Kevin Federline should wait a couple of years before starting a family. Too bad Parents didn't splash the item on its cover (had it only known last week's news at press time). It could have boosted its sagging newsstand sales (down 23 percent last year), at 2.05 million, for this largest-circulation title.
Britney would love Child magazine, as it has plenty of big pictures, a brilliant fashion layout and some great advice on how to decorate her nursery. Editor Miriam Around, in the post for five years now, has donea great job in attracting more upscale readers and more advertisers. One of her tactics might be limiting the number of photos of kids; the current issue seems to carry more photos of adults than tykes. Ya never know.

| Sex of Britney Spears's Baby Stirs Controversy |

In the wake of Britney Spears's announcement that she's pregnant, several tabloids printed stories claiming the pop star was expecting a girl – but the rumors aren't true, PEOPLE has confirmed.
"I honestly don't know what she's having," her rep, Leslie Sloane, tells PEOPLE.
After Spears revealed her pregnancy Tuesday, several British tabloids and New York's Daily News reported that Sloane had inadvertently let slip the baby's gender.
However, Sloane denies the stories, telling PEOPLE, "It's untrue. The Daily News reported something I never said. They made a mistake. I honestly don't know what she's having."
On Tuesday Spears, 23, revealed her pregnancy with a posting on BritneySpears.com saying, "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together. There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers."
Spears earlier discussed with PEOPLE her desire to start a family. After she and Federline, 27, were married on Sept. 18, 2004, in a ceremony at a private home in Studio City, Calif. Spears said: "I want to be a young mom. I can see us as parents."
This will be the couple's first child together. Federline has two children from a previous relationship.

| SPEARS FUMES OVER BABY SEX QUOTE |

Pregnant pop star BRITNEY SPEARS has slammed American newspaper NEW YORK DAILY NEWS for reporting her publicist had clarified the sex of her unborn child.
The paper reported Spears' representative LESLIE SLOANE has "accidentally" let slip the TOXIC star is expecting a baby girl as she responded to the singer's alleged weekend hospitalisation.
Sloane was quoted as saying Wednesday, "Mother and daughter are doing fine."
However Thursday, Sloane accused the Daily News of publishing lies.
She fumes, "The News made that quote up - I never said that.
"I don't know the sex of Britney's baby. I am shocked they would blatantly print a lie and attribute the lie to me."
American gossip site PAGESIX.COM claims Spears' lawyer MARTY SINGER has been in talks with the Daily News and a correction was printed Thursday.

| Britney's publicist denies 'it's a girl' slip |

Britney Spears' publicist has denied she let slip that the popstar is expecting a girl.
Leslie Sloane is furious after a report on Britney's pregnancy in the New York Daily News quoted her saying "Mother and daughter are doing fine."
Sloane told the rival New York Post: "The News made that quote up, I never said that. I don't know the sex of Britney's baby. I am shocked they would blatantly print a lie and attribute the lie to me."
The Post reports Britney's lawyer has been in contact with the Daily News about the story and a correction would be in today's edition.
Earlier this week Britney, 23, and husband Kevin Federline, 27, announced they were expecting their first child together on Spears' official website but did not reveal the sex of the baby or when Spears is due.

Britney Spears is set to return to work just three months after the birth of her baby, friends have claimed.
The pop babe - who announced she was expecting her first child with second husband Kevin Federline earlier this week - is keen to juggle motherhood with a successful acting and singing career.
A source said: "She sees Madonna as her inspiration. She's determined to be a good mother, but at the same time she can't give up her career because she has so many ambitions left.
"She's still writing songs and is looking for acting roles because she still feels she has got a lot to prove."
Yesterday it was revealed Britney is expecting a baby girl.
The sexy singer is currently recovering from a miscarriage scare with a break in Florida.
When asked how Britney was, her publicist, Leslie Sloan, let slip the baby's sex, saying: "She's OK. Mother and daughter are doing fine."
Britney was rushed to a private clinic at the weekend after experiencing severe abdominal pains and sources claim she was in danger of losing her unborn tot.
The sexy singer reportedly suffered from placental abruption, which can kill a foetus in two hours.
Her condition was later played down as a "common complaint" but Britney was kept under observation for two days.

| 53% of Moms and Dads Think Britney Should Put Parenthood on Hold |

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline may be carrying around Parents magazine (as pictured in today's New York Post) to prepare for the arrival of baby, yet according to a recent Parents magazine/Netflix poll, 53% of parents think Britney and Kevin should put off starting a family.

| Britney Spears Shops for Baby's Home |

Britney Spears has put down a deposit on a luxury homes currently being built near Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
According to the New York Post, Britney's first child was conceived in Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Vegas is also her husband Kevin Federline's favourite city.
In the meanwhile, Britney Spears has been forced to cut the price of her New York apartment by several thousand dollars.
The pop singer’s pad has been on the market for nine months and will now cost $1,500,000 according to Ananova. Britney paid about 2 million for the apartment in 2002 meaning a loss of 500,000.
The East Village apartment is 4,400-square-foot has 13-foot ceilings, several wood-burning fireplaces, three bedrooms, four baths, a solarium and large rooftop terrace. Previous owners include Keith Richards and Russell Simmons.

Extra" broke the news, and Britney made it official. Now all of Hollywood is buzzing about Britney Spears' baby.
The pop star was released from a Florida hospital Sunday, after reportedly being admitted for prenatal bleeding. But she and the baby got a clean bill of health.
And this momma's got a fast food craving. We spotted her grabbing dinner at Wendy's Tuesday, where she and Kevin munched on a chicken combo and baked potato.
"Like a lot of women, she didn't want to announce this pregnancy until she was through her first trimester," People magazine's Senior Editor Jess Cagle told us.
The new issue of People, which hits stands Friday, reports that Britney has been prepping for motherhood for some time. "She told us that after she turned 23 she wanted to have a baby," Cagle told us. "She turned 23 in December, and she's right on schedule. And she has been playing stepmom to Kevin's kids, and Kevin's very close to his kids."
But it seems Federline has forgotten about the dangers of second-hand smoke, as he was seen lighting up on the way to a convenience store where Brit picked up a magazine.
So is she having a boy or a girl? New York papers are speculating that Brit's got a baby girl on the way and that she's about four months along. And according to Cagle, there's even a chance the baby will grow up far away from the lights of Los Angeles.
"She has said that she'd like to raise kids in Louisiana near her mom," Cagle revealed. "I know she spends a lot of time there."
Britney relaxed at her Florida vacation home, Wednesday, while Kevin golfed.

The "is she or isn't she" guessing game ended when Britney came down from the balcony and proclaimed her pregnancy on her official web site.
Searches on the perennially popular pop star scaled new heights, up an astonishing 195% yesterday and into our coveted top search perch. While her recently announced reality show barely roused her buzz, the mere confirmation of a Spears-Federline offspring made Britney's buzz sizzle. Maybe she should try this whole pregnancy thing more often. Related searches on "Britney Spears Pregnancy" (+564%) and "Britney Spears Pregnant" (+1,003%) rocketed up our search movers chart.
Queries on baseball-cap aficionado Kevin Federline soared, up 1,865% in the wake of the happy news. K-Fed's original baby mama, Shar Jackson, also surged in searches, up 1,092%.
Now all buzz attention focuses directly on Britney's soon-to-be-bulging tummy. Tabloids will surely watch her every move to see if she's holding a cigarette or doubling up on her Cheetos intake. While we're not in a position to offer advice to pregnant women, we can suggest some top baby name queries for the expecting starlet:

After being out of the spotlight for 5 months, Britney stormed back onto the covers of all the magazines this week with a vengence when she announced that her and husband of 7 months, Kevin Federline, were expecting their first child later this year, and in doing so, has brought about the biggest media tale of 2005, so far.
Within hours of the announcement on her official website, britneyspears.com had recieved over 2 million hits from fans wanting to see the article for themselves and to leave a congratulatory message for the Federlines. Google and Yahoo reported that 'Britney Spears Pregnancy' was the #1 hit for searches following the announcement and has remained at the #1 spot for 4 days with over a million searches a day.
Numerous American magazines and newspapers have given early sales figures that show the issue with Britney's pregnancy as the main feature have become the highest selling this year.
Britney is only spectulated at being 4 months pregnant and so that would mean the blessed event would occur sometime in October, so you can expect an even bigger media surge when Britney Federline Jnr. appears on the scene.

One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush has leapt to the defence of pregnant popstar Britney Spears, insisting people shouldn't judge her for starting a family so soon after her marriage.
The brunette beauty has been engaged to her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray for nearly a year (begsMAY04) and while she is in no rush to marry her fiance, she believes Spears is unfairly lambasted for her speedy relationship with husband Kevin Federline.
Spears caused controversy when she first started dating Federline in April 2004 - because his girlfriend Shar Jackson was six months pregnant with their second child.
After only dating for two months, the pair got engaged and wed in September, leading many fellow celebrities, fans and the media to claim Spears was rushing into marriage.
After hearing of Spears' pregnancy, Bush tells Mtv.com, "Good for her. If she's ready, and they're ready, none of us are going to really ever know what goes on in their house and their relationship, so more power to her."

The 10-year-old girl who landed a shock exclusive interview with BRITNEY SPEARS fears the pop superstar will be angry when she reads her feature in a California school magazine.
VERONICA YOU was invited to chat to Spears in her L'Merigot Hotel suite in Los Angeles for her school paper after pushing a note under her door, but the 10- year-old doesn't think her pop pal will be happy when she sees her piece.
Breaking her own silence on yesterday's ACCESS HOLLYWOOD news show in America, You said, "After she reads all these pages and looks at it she's gonna either remember the name and get mad at me somehow or she's just going to drop it." But You was determined not to upset Britney by asking rude questions about her then-rumoured pregnancy.
She explained, "We came up with things like, 'Do you want a baby soon? Do you want a boy or a girl?'
"Britney said she can answer any question I asked her but we didn't decide (sic) to say, like, 'Are you pregnant?' because it's like, 'I'm a kid, that would be rude.'" You was left feeling a little silly, however, when she chatted to Access Hollywood reporters just hours before Britney broke the happy news she is with child, saying, "I think she isn't quite pregnant but she could be either getting just fat or she could just be pregnant. I have no idea."

| Britney Spears Loses Ability to “Drop It Like It’s Hot” |

Recently remarried and former pop princess Britney Spears has reportedly lost the ability to “drop it like it’s hot”. Sources close to the singer failed to finger one particular cause, but speculation in Tinsel Town is rampant.
It is no secret that Spears has taken on a rather dumpy appearance as of late. The expedited acceleration of her journey down the slippery slope of cellulite that is womanhood has been particularly alarming though. Her last album turned out to be an utter disappointment financially, and Spears has recently canceled a tour due to an outbreak of “fatback”.
In true trailer park fashion Britney was recently married for a second time to daddy twice over and backup dancer Kevin Federline. Even friends have called for a halt to the madness. Reached for comment in the singer’s hometown, one childhood friend pleaded with Spears to “remember J-Lo.”
“She’s taken it too far,” says one industry executive “once you cut (pop stars) loose from carefully managed handlers, ‘poof’, it’s like the clock strikes midnight.”
In addition to her bout with “creamcheesethighsitus Spears has seemly lost her grip on the core audience that boosted her to the top of the charts in the first place. Twelve-year-old Jessica Ramirez from nearby Glendale openly called the performer out. “When I was like eight she was all happy and singing about boys and bubblegum. Now she’s gone and started kissing old Jewish women. Now I’m only getting a quarter of the uncomfortable looks from grown men that I got when I was ten.”
The final straw appears to have snapped earlier this week as Spears was rehabbing her knee. Jamal Tanner, Britney’s longtime choreographer, stated simply, “She’s lost it.” When asked to expand on his answer Tanner became agitated. “I asked her to start with something we’ve been working on for a few months and I got nothing. At first I didn’t say anything because I knew she had been under stress lately, so I asked her to ‘shake her groove thing’. She game me three steps of the electric slide before she had to take a break.”
When he vocalized his concern, Tanner says that the multi-platinum selling artist simply pulled out a Sun Drop and a Virginia Slim and ignored him.
But it was not until later that afternoon that Tanner realized how low she had sunk. “It was when I asked her to ‘drop it like it’s hot’ that I finally understood, that there was no ‘hot’ to it”, said the distraught choreographer.
Representatives from the Spears camp declined to comment extensively about the incident, saying only, “Who doesn’t love a little KFC at three in the morning?” When pressed for more information, the spokeswoman did admit that Britney had hit a “soft spot” in her career, but vowed that “Jessica Simpson can have Daisy Duke, because Britney would be back.”
